Upcoming Classes and Events at Open Studio Folk School

There is a lot happening in the next few weeks at Open Studio Folk School! The calendar is filling up with classes and events!


Our Artist in Residence for April 23-26 will be Gail Young. Stop by the Folk School from10:00 am - 1:00 pm to watch Gail work. Every artist or craftsperson has their own workstyle and experience to share and Gail is a master at a variety of techniques from weaving to macrame, to binding, to bling and beyond. You will be welcomed and entertained. Come in and enjoy learning from Gail! Gail will also be teaching a Coptic Binding class on May 2. Take a look at her journal samples while you are watching her as our Artist in Residence and register for the Coptic Binding class to create a journal that invites you to write!


Marybeth Richardson is continuing her card making basic technique classes with a Fun Folded Cards class on Saturday, April 18 from 9:30 to noon. These cards use a variety of folding techniques including creating a pop-up card. Come in and join the fun! No experience is necessary and you will leave the class with at least three cards ready to mail and a stack of ideas to try at home.


If you would like to try painting with wool try out the Needle Felting Landscapes class on April 21. Needle Felting is a great way to begin looking at our beautiful landscape surroundings!


On April 28 Watercolor is back! Dalene Sprick will be teaching Abstract and Impression techniques that are easy and which have unexpected and intriguing results every time.


Create your summer look with Painted Tennis Shoes on April 29 at 7:00 or May 2 at 1:00 pm. Your feet will thank you!


One of the hottest craft revival trends for fall is Tunisian Crochet. Get a head start on this craft with a beginning level class which will teach the basic forward and return passes as well as how to stitch in an even weave design. The basic Tunisian Crochet class will take place on April 30.


A special quilting event will unfold over four classes to be held in May and June. Ginny Singer will teach the Bella Quilted Jacket. May 1 will be a review of paper piecing technique and include a jacket planning session. The jacket will be completed in class on June 3,4 and 5. Registration is limited. Reserve your space now.
