WOW! I am starting to settle in to all of the new that happens with any start up. No matter how much planning and thinking you have done, there is a day when you wake up in the middle of the "everything new" hurricane...new website, new space, new class list, new customers, new social marketing, new personal schedule, new instructors...and so far I have survived. Opening the Folk School has been a fun ride and thank you for joining me on this little passion project journey!
My thanks to all of the people who have reached out to support me and the Folk School. Some of you have volunteered to teach classes, others have taken classes, some have tested classes...and all of you have been deeply appreciated. Part of the definition of a Folk School is creating community, and you have been a great community to welcome Open Studio Folk School!
Classes have been updated, so you may want to take another look.
New Spring Break classes have been added for March 16-20. These classes are aimed at ages 8-12. On Monday we will center the classes around exploring Art, Tuesday is Sculpture day, Wednesday is (my favorite!) Fiber day, Thursday is Construction Day and Friday's classes will include some Science exploration. Four classes will be offered each day (9:00 to 10:30 am, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm and 3:00 to 5:00 pm).
Try It Out classes will offer a small taste of a larger set of skills without having to buy "all of the equipment and supplies". These Try It Out classes will debut on March 12 and 13 with Bargello, punch needle, Stenciling on Fabric and Printing on Fabric. They will also include a demonstration/class of Needle Turned Applique by Rose French and a wool applique stitch along.
Easter themed activities are sprinkled throughout the next 3 weeks including a fun Block Chicks and Bunnies class with Jennifer Lohrenz as the guest instructor. This class is family friendly, so contact me (annasapp@openstudiofolkschool.com) for family pricing. Also family friendly will be Build a Better Easter Basket with instructor Nona Veatch.
We have added Friday afternoon Kids classes on March 27 and April 3.
There is a lot going on here and I hope you will join us. April classes are being scheduled now and we have some special guest instructors from far and near who have committed for May and June as well. Stay tuned, and stop in for a quick visit or an open craft or open stitch time.
