Zip It: Clamshell Bag

Class Description

The Zip It Clam Shell Bag is a fully lined pouch with a roomy clamshell opening, flat bottom, and secure zipper closure. Make this bag which is perfect for sewing supplies, knitting notions, toiletries, travel essentials, electronics, or everyday organization. Students will learn techniques for constructing a professional-looking lined bag, including zipper installation, shaping curved seams, topstitching, and creating boxed corners for structure and stability. Along the way, you'll pick up tips for achieving smooth curves, accurate construction, and crisp finishing details. A class materials fee of $32 will be payable to the instructor at the time of the class. Materials include the pattern, fabric, batting and zipper for one clamshell bag. Each student will need to bring a sewing machine to class. Items to bring with your sewing machine include: - A ¼" Foot - A Zipper Foot NOTE: THIS PROJECT CANNOT BE MADE WITHOUT A ZIPPER FOOT - A Quilting Foot or Free Motion Foot - Power cord, foot pedal, presser feet, bobbins, user's manual Additional supplies to bring: Scissors, Nippers, Pins, Seam Ripper, Nonpermanent Fabric Marker, Hera Marker (the Hera Marker is optional but very helpful) Rotary Cutter, Ruler and Cutting Mat Thread (color match your chosen kit fabrics) If you do not have a sewing machine, please email annasapp@openstudiofolkschool.com to make arrangements to have sewing machine in the class.
