Develop sewing skills with an experienced guide
Class Description
Give your child a creative and supportive space to develop their sewing skills after the school day. This weekly club provides students time to work on sewing project which interest them while receiving instruction and guidance from an experienced sewing teacher. Students will work on individual projects of their choice. The instructor will be available to help students plan, problem solve, learn techniques, problem solve and move forward to complete their work with confidence. Students should expect a calm, screen-free, creative environment with opportunities to build independence and confidence. Projects will be selected during the first class meeting with the instructor's assistance based on each student's individual skill level. Each student will create a list of supplies and materials needed for the project and will bring those supplies and materials to the second meeting. Students may bring their own sewing machine from home, but machines will be available for students to use during club sessions. Bringing a personal machine is not required. Any machine brought from home should include a case, power cord, foot pedal and necessary accessories. Personal machines should be labeled with the student's name on the machine, foot pedal, power cord and accessories and the machine should be in good working order. Some shared studio tools will be available for use during the sessions. Students will generally provide the fabrics, patterns, notions and other materials needed to complete the selected project. They may work on one larger project or complete several smaller projects throughout the session depending on their experience, interests and pace.
