Explore fibers and and traditional handwork skills - Ages 8-12
Class Description
This 10 week class session will introduce basic skills for traditional handwork in crochet, embroidery, knitting, needle felting, weaving and beading and then students will apply those skills in a self-directed fiber art project. Weeks 1-6 will provide skills instruction and weeks 7-10 will provide skills application. During the completion of the fiber art project students will plan, problem solve, gather information, expand and solidify skills, learn the historical and social context of traditional handwork, and experience the joy of creativity. Class fees include instruction and learning materials for the first six weeks. Additional materials may be needed for completion of the fiber art project. Parents will be consulted during the planning phase of the fiber art project and should be ready to discuss budget limitations with their child.
