Class Description

Build this relaxed fit quilted coat, available in ten sizes. It's fully lined and features set-in sleeves, inseam pockets, a zippered front closure with guard, and a sporty collar that is stylish and functional. Choose from two views and get creative styling your coat with appliqué, foundation paper piecing, or blockwork. Previous garment construction experience is not required for this class – you will be amazed at how quickly and easily the coat comes together. The Bella Quilt Coat Pattern is required for this class. There two optional pattern expansion packs available. Review the design elements in each to decide how you will style your coat. Friday, May 1 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This is an optional one-day class. It will include an introduction to foundation paper piecing, along with color planning and a general introduction to the pattern. Any paper piecing embellishment must be completed before the three-day construction class. (No supplies needed at this point) Thursday, Friday, Saturday, June 4, 5, and 6 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Bella Coat construction class will be a 3-day class. Day 1 will be quilting the panels (may be done before class if desired), cutting out the coat, and applying any embellishments such as the FPP. Days 2 and 3 will be constructing the jacket. You will be able to complete the coat in class. You may leave early any day, if needed, but please arrive on time for the classes. Supply list: - Bella Quilt Coat Pattern by Quilting Elissa. This pattern is available from Beartooth Sewing in Billings or online from ByAnnie.com. *Optional: Expansion packs for the sleeve accents and arcs and beauties for the coat body are sold separately. They are also available at Beartooth Sewing in Billings or online at ByAnnie.com. - Fabric for the coat (see pattern for details). Embellishments require additional fabric. -Sewing machine in good working condition. A Singer Featherweight works but the bulk of making the coat is hard for a smaller sewing machine. - Feet for your sewing machine and spare needles size 80 or 90 (universal or sharps). - High quality polyester thread for garment construction. - Rotary mat and cutter, or scissors if you prefer. - General sewing supplies such as pins, seam ripper, etc. - Zipper: any separating coat/jacket zipper - must be 23” to 25” (no exceptions!) - Lightweight fusible woven interfacing such as Pellon SF101 *Pattern tracing paper (if you want to keep your paper pattern for later)
